While the desert of Tabernas has been featured in multiple LVC westerns, the actual real town of Tabernas is rarely seen. It is featured in The Big Gundown as a stand in for Mexico in the latter half of the film.

And it still looks si.ilar. I remember reading Sergio Sollima was a little irritated that Lee and Walter Barnes got into the booze a bit heavy on that film.
ReplyDeleteAlso after over 50 feature films and over 140 television episodes, this was the first time Lee had top billing. And it's one of his best. Many consider it the best non Leone SW.
