VHS Flashback: Jungle Raiders

Before streaming, blu-ray, and DVD, most LVC films were only available on home video cassette tapes, usually VHS (but also Betamax).  Many of us discovered these films for the first time in these formats (usually cropped and edited).

Often times due to rights issues, these films were given new titles (some similar to the original, some not).  Often the cover image of LVC was not from the actual film!

Here is a look back at the old VHS LVC video covers for Jungle Raiders!

  1. When the film was being shot in 1985 Variety listed the title as Captain Yankee. I think this is the film Lee was working on in the Philippines and when leaving a hotel he noticed actor John Hart coming up the steps. Hart said he came over and hugged him and chatted for awhile. They had not seen each other in many years. Lee was in three episodes of the Lone Ranger when Hart was playing the lead as the producer had a salary dispute with Clayton Moore and neither one would give in. Hart did two seasons before Moore finally returned. Jay Silverheels play Tonto for the entire run and didn't seem to notice for two seasons in the early 1950's his masked friend was a different person.
