  1. These look impressive. Also note the Spanish have the billing correct. Clint, Eli then Lee. Some of the European prints such as the Italian and Spanish have Clint's name the Eli's then Lee's before the title. In the English language version, United Artists only placed Clint's name before the title and Lee's name first after the title and they moved Eli's name to last of all actors in letters in the same size of Clint or Lee's with the name of the character, Tuco, below Eli's in a special billing case which is a way to give a significant billing equal to the star. In print Eli's name is in a box.

    When the movies were made, Clint was not a movie star and Lee was a featured player and TV episodic player. In United Artists mind, they wanted to play up Eli Wallach's involvement as he had been a top tier actor in several notes feature films and noted on the New York stage.
