This was one of the movies he made more or less back to back right after wrapping TGTBATU. He went from one movie straight to the next. I think the ones he made in this bunch in the mid to late 1960's were his best: Day of Anger, Death Rides a Horse and his best movie and performance, The Big Gundown.
