eBay Watch: "Lee Van Cliff" Greek Poster

From time to time I will post interesting items that I see on eBay that would be of interest to a LVC fan. These are not endorsements of the sellers, just merely my observations of interesting or rare items.

Here is a Greek candid poster of "Lee Van Cliff" from what looks like the mid-80's.  Very cool!

Description This is a VINTAGE double side Poster taken off from various GREEK Magazines.
POSTER SIZE Approximately: 22 X 28 cm, (8.6 X 11 Inches)
Condition: Signs of fold wear and maybe creases & tears. Check the photo carefully for better understanding the condition.

Sabata Coming to Blu-Ray (US)

I know this blog seems to be becoming the LVC Blu-ray news network, but we have another upcoming release!  Sabata is making it's way to the US!  Kino Lorber will be releasing this disc on July 22.  At this time the only extra listed is the theatrical trailer.

Below are some additional Sabata links

Blu-ray Screenshot Compare: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

* 6/13/2014 Update - Full Disc Review HERE

Although we are still 2 weeks away from seeing the new blu-ray transfer of the The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly hitting stores in the US, other territories have been released with this new transfer.  The results are... interesting, and there is some debate within the movie community as to the correctness of the color timing of the new transfer (as you can see it is very yellow).

Personally based on the screencaps, I lean towards liking the 2009 Italian disc, but looking at screencaps is one thing, and watching the film is another, so I would advise not to make any final opinions until watching the film.  Regardless of the difference in color and contrast the new transfer feature much better detail and clarity over the 2009 blu-ray!

Below are sets of 3 screen captures in order from the following sources
  1. 2009 MGM US disc
  2. 2009 Mondo Italian disc
  3. 2014 MGM UK Re-master disc  (which will be the same as what we get in the US)

UPDATE: 4k Remaster of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly on Blu-ray

On June 3rd MGM will rerelease The Man with No Name Trilogy on blu-ray, this time including a new 4k remaster of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The previous edition was released in in 2010, and at that time was the only way to get A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More on blu-ray.  The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly disc that was included in this set was a copy of a previously released disc from 2009.  That edition was far inferior in image quality to the Italian blu-ray released around the same time.  Sadly the Italian version did not feature an English audio option.

**6/13/2014 Update - Full Disc Review HERE

The Press release information is now available.  It looks like A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More will be direct copies of what has been previously released.  The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly disc will be from a new 4k remaster, and it looks like all the extras are the same

Press Release below:

The Sergio Leone “Spaghetti Westerns” did not simply add a new chapter to the genre...they reinvented it. From his shockingly violent and stylized breakthrough, A Fistful Of Dollars, to the film Quentin Tarantino calls “the best-directed movie of all time,” The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, Leone’s vision elevated Westerns to an entirely new art form. This definitive Leone collection of the most ambitious and influential Westerns ever made includes more than five hours of special features that uncover buried gold in these gritty classics – plus a NEWLY REMASTERED version of The Good, The Bad And The Ugly.

Codename: Wildgeese and The Commander - Coming to Blu-ray (Germany)

Codename: Wildgeese and The Commander are receiving a wide Blu-ray release in Europe.  Both discs are coming out from Ascot Elite on May 13.  Kommando Leopard (which does not star LVC, but one could argue is part of an unofficial trilogy) will also be released on the same date.

Extras look to include trailers for both.

This will mark the second European release of both films.  They were previously released by NSM records last year in a limited edition of 1000 each.  The discs by NSM featured a few additional extras, however these discs are getting harder to find, and are far more expensive than these upcoming releases.

It is unknown if these new releases will be the same prints/transfers as the NSM releases, but I would assume so.  US compatibility also unknown.
