In an early announcement to retailers, Grindhouse Releasing is preparing 'The Big Gundown' for Blu-ray on December 10.
Jonathan Corbett is a gunman so brave to have eliminated all the bandits of Texas. For this he is proposed for the candidacy to the Senate of the United States. In exchange he has only to support the construction of one railway line. Only after he accepts does he come to know that the Mexican Cuchillo has raped and killed a 12 year old girl. I'm gonna get this one too! I've got Big Gundown on a lousy VHS tape & there was a great extended copy on YouTube but the restored scenes where in Italian so everybody suddenly stars speaking Italian then back to English then back to Italian and on and on. But somebody made them take it off.
ReplyDeleteYes often it's said it's the best non Leone spaghetti western & it's a good one.
And some may not know that Lee Van Cleef didn't go home after he finished his scenes in Good, Bad & Ugly. The producer of Good, Bad & Ugly, Alberto Grimaldi, put Lee right to work on Big Gundown. I've always figured the beard Lee has at the begining of Big Gundown is the same one he had in Good, Bad & Ugly at the Sad Hill Cemetery scene. Lee didn't shave, he just moved over to Big Gundown the next day. Also after 150 TV roles & over 50 films, Big Gundown was the first time Lee Van Cleef had top billing in a film.
OOOO WEEEE This is good Aaron. I'm gonna get one.
