Here are a couple of trading cards from the Atlas Editions Movie Star Cards Encyclopedia.

Card is from: Atlas Editions Movie Star Cards Encyclopedia (also known as the John Kobal Collection)
CARD MEASURES: 7 x 5 3/4 inches (17.8 x 14.6 cm)
CARD CONDITION: Near Mint condition, card has no creases
This card is from a subscription card set released in the early 1990s, which meant you had to subscribe to the Atlas company back in those days to accumulate cards from this set. Atlas would send a packet of cards each month and you had to remit payment to continue the collection. The cards originally came with binders to collect your cards in and so each card had 2 hole punches. The back of the card has a nice write-up of a few hundred words about the actor or actress shown. The card is in English and this is an original card not a reproduction.

CARD MEASURES: 7 x 5 1/8" (17.8 x 13 cm)
CARD CONDITION: Near Mint to Mint condition
This card is from a subscription card set released in the early 1990s in France and French-Canada only, which meant you had to subscribe to the Atlas company back in those days to accumulate cards from this set. Atlas would send a packet of cards each month and you had to remit payment to continue the collection. The back of the card has a nice write-up of a few hundred words about the actor or actress shown. The card is in FRENCH LANGUAGE and this is an original card not a reproduction.

Very cool! The first one is from the early to mid 50's I would say. Of course the second one is For A Few Dollars More in 1965. I like the first one. If Lee had begun his career in 1942 rather than 1951, no doubt he would have been cast in many film noir/crime/cops/robbers vehicles. He had the perfect look for that kind of role.
ReplyDeleteWith Kansas City Confidential and Vice Squad coming so early in his career, it is surprising that Lee didn't get more of those in the 1950's. I guess KCC and Big Combo were the two most noted for Lee.
